When I took the soundboard off the old (1972) 6c lute I found that the soundboard was glued down with a synthetic resin adhesive and didn’t come off cleanly. I cleaned it up as best I could, planed a little off the edge of the bowl to lower the action, shortened the pegbox to nine pegs, made a new nut and tidied the finish. It actually works pretty well. All I need to do now is get the hang of mediaeval lute playing!
Meantime, the new bowl and neck will get a new soundboard and become a 6c lute! What am I going to do with all these lutes?????
